Animatics for Concept I

Here are the first 2 storyboard animatics I've done for Concept class! Super fun to do, I feel like I've learned so much.

This project was titled "The Gondola" - we were given the basic story and characters, and we had to come up with an ending. The egg bit and on is the stuff I made up.

For this assignment, the requirements were that it could only be 25 sec long, 5 shots, and there had to be a frog playing an annoying instrument and so a tomato is thrown at him.

Pantomime - Traditional Animation

Finally completed the pantomime assignment for TA, and I had a blast! Created this lil guy - Lewis the Loris.

This was my character sheet for him!

Then we had to have our character do a walk cycle, to get a feel for the way the character moves.

And here is the final pantomime animation! Requirements: Had to either walk on or off screen and had to show emotional change.

TA 2nd semester walk cycles

3 weeks into my year as a sophomore animation student, and I am loving it! So far we've done 2 traditionally animated walk cycles. The first one realistic, the 2nd one exaggerated. Super fun to do!

Summer Stuff!

Well seeing as how summer is nearing the end, I thought I'd post some of the things I did this summer! Sorry for any crappy photo quality, the scanner we have at home is very small and dated, so I resorted to a camera.
Commission for Boeing - This will be their company's Christmas card this year! Done in oils.

Great Dane commission done in oil paints, and my mask design entry for "The Art of the Mask" phantom of the opera contest. Also done in oils!

Master copy from one of HR Giger's works in honor of his death. Done in acrylics.

End of the year project dump!!

Wow I can't believe my first year at Ringling is already over!! What an exciting ride it has been. Here's some of my favorite pieces from the end of the year.

Academic style drawing for Figure class, took 4 class periods on this one. Done in regular ol' derwent pencils :)
Self portrait from life - I look pretty peeved ahaha

My grunt sculpture for 3D Design! This is the Derp and he once was a sloth until a nuclear explosion was set off near his jungle - the radioactivity caused him to mutate drastically. This sculpture took a lot outta me :D I am so thankful it's done!!

And Here are all 3 of my proposed Grunt ideas.

Exaggerated walk cycle for Traditional Animation - Decided to create a big fat happy mouse :)

And here's the what the rough animation looked like before I cleaned it up if anyone is interested! Personally I like the way rough animation looks better anyways :)

Animation Dump!

Traditional Animation has been SUCH  a challenge but definitely one of my favorite classes. Can't believe I'm getting to learn this stuff. Anyways here are some of the assignments from this semester so far!
Ball Bounce with tail - I made mine into an armidillo hehe :)

Flour Sack animation - "With a Cherry on Top" - So proud to say that mine made it to The Best of Ringling!!!!!!!

Animal Take and weight shift - I was given a Lynx to animate. I'm pretty happy with the take, but ehhh the weight shift could use a lot more work.

I am MUCH happier with the way this Lynx animation turned out. This one we had to make our animal jump.
Here's my Lynx character sheet I made ~

And here's the explorations for the character.

Roger Rabbit's Bedroom

Project for Drawing II: Invent a bedroom for a known character (whose bedroom we have not seen before). So naturally I chose one of my very favorite characters - ROGER RABBIT! This was definitely an assignment I enjoyed doing.
thumbnails and isometric drawing

aaaand the final - done in photoshop

Ecorche

IT'S FINALLY DONEEEEE. for 3D Design we had to sculpt the muscles of the human body... and thank GOD it's done! :D although the face is really creepy, I'm quite happy with the results.
